Fall SEASON FAQs  

ALL 2024 REGISTRATION WILL BE OPEN June 17th to July 14th. 

Please keep in mind that due to field scheduling limitations, we often reach capacity before the deadline. To secure your spot on a team, we highly recommend registering early. Please note that late registrations will not be accepted under any circumstances. This is to ensure sufficient time for uniform ordering prior to the games.

When will the season start?

Practices will begin the first week of August with games beginning August 19th. 

How long will the season last?

The season will run through mid-October.

How many practices will be held a week?

Before games begin, and pending field availability, each team will be given the option to practice twice a week. One practice will be on a weeknight and the other one will be on a Saturday or Sunday. Once games begin, practices will only be held once per week. Practice days are selected by the head coach, after teams are formed. Practices are 90 minutes in length.

How many games will there be per week?

There will be one game per week for the fall season. All ages will play one weeknight game and a Saturday game. Weeknight games are subject to change, based upon total number of teams. Traditionally, games are scheduled as follows:

Mondays - 13U and 6U 
Tuesdays - 8U
Thursdays - 10U 
Wednesday - makeup games 

How much does it cost to play?

$145 for 6U; $155 for 8u, and $165 for 10U and 13U

What do the fees go toward?

Uniforms, county participation fees, insurance, umpires, game balls, field maintenance/labor, equipment, awards, etc. 

How are coaches chosen?

Coaches must fill out an application online (see volunteer tab for further instructions). The board will then select coaches based on prior experience and needs. All coaches will undergo NAYS certification, as well as background checks. 

How are teams selected?

Exciting news! For the fall season, we will be introducing player evaluations before the start of the season. Each player's skill level will be assessed and used in a draft to assign teams. This will ensure a fair and balanced competition throughout the season.

When will the teams be picked?

Teams will be assigned by July 31st. Evaluation and draft dates will be in July and will be announced soon. 

At what age do kids start pitching?

Kid pitch begins in 10U. 6U is a combination of coach pitch/tee and 8U is coach pitch only. 

Within what age group should my child play?

The age your child was as of August 31st, 2024 should be used in determining the division in which they should play. The online registration will automatically assign your child to the correct age division. No one is permitted to "play down," but you may opt for your child to "play up" should they desire a more competitive level. In order to play in an older age division, you will need to notate this request on your registration. For spring season, they will remain in the same age group as they were for fall season. 

Where are the practices held?

All practices will be held at Nolensville Park field #1 or the old rec field behind the historic school next to the rec center. 

Where are the games played?

Games are played throughout the county.  Games are spread out between Nolensville Park, Fly Park, Bethesda Park, College Grove Park, Bethesda Park, Cheek Park, and Grassland Park.

Are practices and games held on Wednesday’s and Sunday’s?

Regular season games are typically not scheduled on Wednesdays or Sundays. Rainout games may be made up on these days as needed. Practices, however, may need to be scheduled on these days due to limited field space.

What equipment does my child need?

Your child will need to have a glove, cleats, bat, batting helmet (with facemask) and a fielders mask.  All of this can be purchased used from Play It Again Sports, or new from Dick's Sporting Goods (see coupon tab), Academy Sports, Target, Walmart, etc. The league will provide each player with a uniform and socks. SPRING SEASON FAQs

When will the season start?

Practices will begin the last week of February and games will begin the last week of March. There will be no practices during the week of WCS Spring Break.

How long will the season last?

The season will run through mid-May.

There will be two games per week, with one game being on a weeknight and one game being on a Saturday. 

How much does it cost to play?

$125

What do the fees go toward?

Uniforms, insurance, umpires, county fees, field maintenance, equipment and chalk and coaching certifications/background checks

How are coaches chosen?

Coaches must fill out an application and return it to the softball board.  The board will then select coaches based on prior experience and needs. All coaches undergo NAYS certification, as well as background checks. 

How are teams selected?

The softball board attempts to honor all requests to play for a certain team/coach.  While we do make the attempt, requests are not guaranteed. Team/coach requests may be submitted during your registration process.

At what age do kids start pitching?

Kids start pitching in the U10 division (fast pitch or slow pitch) and they are typically between the ages of 9 and 10 years-old.

The age of your child as of August 1st, 2018 should be used in determining the division in which they should play. The online registration will automatically assign your child to the correct age division.

Regular season games are typically not scheduled on Wednesdays or Sundays.  However, rainout games are typically made up on these days as needed.  Practices, however, may need to be scheduled on these days due to limited field space for softball and baseball teams.

What equipment does my child need?

Your child will need to have a glove and cleats.  The league will provide each player with a uniform.  The league will also provide catchers gear and a batting helmet with a face mask to be shared, as well as one bat per team.  While batting helmets and a team bat are provided, it is recommended that each child have their own helmet, and optionally provide a bat that is suitable.  Facemasks are strongly recommended.  For those players playing the pitchers position, a facemask is required.  The league will provide one pitcher’s mask per team as well.
